Custom Drupal website and icon design for a Portland, OR nonprofit that protects Northwest wildlands, wildlife, and waters.

Next time you’re hiking the Columbia Gorge, thank Oregon Wild as they have been protecting the state’s wildlands, wildlife, and waters. They’ve kept our most precious landscapes safe from massive development which includes nearly 1.7 million acres of wilderness, 95,000 acres of forests, and almost 1,800 miles of wild & scenic rivers.

Goodbye Plone, hello Drupal 7

Oregon Wild came to us eager to ditch their previous problematic website built with Plone. They asked for a new site to fulfill their current and future needs: membership login, Salsa Nonprofit CRM, and extensive pages with PDFs. Drupal 7 was the perfect choice with a custom theme driven on ZURB’s Foundation framework. Along with compass and SASS, Oregon Wild’s new website is fully responsive and easy to manage.

For the art direction and visual design, we used fonts with a warm color palette reminiscent of posters found at National Parks. Their new site is gorgeous just like Oregon’s painted landscape.

Icon wilderness

To complement the website’s theme of waters, wildlife, and wilderness, we designed a set of customized icons. These icons appear on the sidebar navigation throughout the website so everything feels fresh and dynamic.
